Men and women in the United States Army work diligently in service to their country. This is a graphical explanation of what their badges, bars, and awards mean. This chart explains the significance of a badge and how the person wearing it has contributed to strengthening America.
Not all of these badges last for the duration of a soldier’s tenure. Some must be renewed annually and others are permanent. The ones listed are either an accolade for a sacrifice made, a level of proficiency in a certain skill, or a rank within the organization. The army is a very deliberate institution that focuses on planning and strategy. It would follow that the award structure is organized as well.
In order to make this graphical chart as user friendly as possible, the awards and decorations are separated by category. At the end of the chart are two examples of American army war heroes and what designations they earned in service to their country.
