Having a boss from hell can negatively affect your life in many insidious ways. These hellish bosses can often be considered psychopaths and they may trick you during the interview process. Psychopaths are by nature charming until they reel you in. Some bosses just enjoy drama while others truly are oblivious to their abusive requests and treatment of employees.
A boss from hell often does not give clear instructions or clear direction. The boss may then yell or insult you if you don't meet those fuzzy expectations. They are indirect and even passive aggressive at times. If you try to point out those things, watch out as you may be met with anger and defensiveness.
When a boss changes plans or revamps ideas regularly, it can throw you off or make you vulnerable to criticism later. This can make you feel insecure about your chances for promotion and future growth.
